Newsletter – Summer 2025 (E)

Dear friends of St. Paul’s Abbey,

This summer has been hotter than usual, yet it seems to have passed very quickly. Until mid-June, the weather remained cool, and the peppers we had planted in the fields only began to bear fruit toward the end of July. Now, as we enter September, the trees along the monastery’s prayer path have already begun to shed their leaves, and chestnut burrs are ripening, filling the air with the spirit of autumn. Just as we look forward to an abundant harvest in this deepening season, we also pray that the efforts and dedication you have shown throughout this year may bear abundant fruit in the grace of the Lord. As I mentioned in our previous newsletter, Brother Jin-Kyu Enoch Kim and Father Yeon-soo Beda Na were assigned to Newton Monastery on June 4 and June 18, respectively, and they are sincerely continuing their monastic life. More detailed news from the monastery will be shared in our Christmas newsletter.

Dear brothers and sisters, Our Newton community is always deeply grateful for your prayers and support. We are especially thankful for the warm generosity you showed last year when we requested help for the restoration and renovation of the church in commemoration of the monastery’s 100th anniversary. Currently, we are collaborating with architects and engineers to prepare for the project. However, since the church construction involves several steps, it will take some time. Once the work begins, we will need a space to celebrate the liturgy. Therefore, we plan to relocate the library books and temporarily use that space as a chapel. We thank you once again for your constant prayers and assistance, and we ask for your continued support. We pray that the Lord’s abundant grace and love may dwell richly with you and your families. Thank you.
