    Fr. Samuel,
I am saddened to read of the passing of Brother Owen. When I was with you in December 2018 I met Br. Owen. He was standing the sunlight warming himself in the corridor on the way to the dining facility. He told me he had grown up in the area. I gathered that he had been at the monastery for a long time. I told Br. Owen I had been to the monastery when I was very young. He said he thought he remembered me. Br. Mathias had come by and had joined our conversation. Br. Mathias said Br. Owen was very old and had been there a long time and that it was possible. This was just possible based on his age when he passed away.
In any event I am saddened at his passing yet glad that he has left for the Kingdom of Light.
I think of St. Paul’s now and then. I am an Oblate of St. Meinrad here in Indiana but St. Paul’s was my first experience of monastic life. I still have a copy of the letter I sent to Fr. Robert, the vocation director at St. Paul’s, when I was in 8th grade. In the letter I told Fr. Robert I wanted to come to St. Paul’s for High School but my parents wanted me to think more about the vocation of becoming a priest. My brother and I also attended camp there one summer.
I could see while I was with you that you have many challenges. I pray God’s grace for all of you. Brother Mathias was a particular blessing when I visited in Dec 2018. I hope you are all well.
    Best Wishes,
    Robert Mortenson
