Fr. Kunibert (Blasius) Ott was born on July 12, 1912, at Edelstetten near Krumbach in the Diocese of Augsburg, the son of the farmer Michael Ott and his wife Josefa Fischer. His sister, Sister Luitraud, entered the convent of St. Joseph at Ursberg and was renowned not only as a religious but as an educator.

Entering the minor seminary of St. Ottilien in 1923, Blasius Ott finished the gymnasium at Dillingen on the Danube in 1933 and began his novitiate on May 12 of that year with the religious name Kunibert (Cunibertus). He made his first profession on May 14, 1934, and his perpetual vows on May 17, 1937, and began his theological studies at St. Ottilien and at the University of Munich. Because of the political situation he was sent to Tokwon Abbey in Korea on August 29, 1937, immediately after his solemn vows; he completed his theology at the Tokwon seminary and was ordained a priest there.

When Tokwon Abbey was closed, Fr. Kunibert was imprisoned first in Pyongyang and then in the Oksadok camp, where, under its cruelties, he died on June 14, 1952.

블라시우스(쿠니베르트 신부) 오트는 1912년 7월 12일 아욱스부르그 교구에 속한 크룸바크 근교의 에델쉬테텐에서 농부였던 아버지 미하엘 오트와 어머니 요세파 피셔 사이에서 태어났다. 오트의 누이인 루이트라우트 수녀는 우르스베르그의 성 요셉 수도원에 입회하였는데, 수녀로서만이 아니라 교육자로서도 유명하였다. 1923년 상트 오틸리엔 수도원의 소신학교에 입학한 블라시우스 오트는 1933년 도나우 강변의 딜링엔에서 김나지움을 졸업하고 1933년 5월 12일 쿠니베르트(쿠니베르투스 Cunibertus)라는 수도명을 받고 수련기를 시작하였다. 쿠니베르트 신부는 1934년 5월 14일 첫 서원을, 1937년 5월 17일 종신서원을 하고 상트 오틸리엔 대학과 뮌헨 대학교에서 신학 공부를 시작하였다. 정치적 상황으로 인해 1937년 8월 29일, 종신서원을 한 즉시, 한국의 덕원 수도원으로 파견되었는데, 덕원 신학교에서 신학 공부마치고 사제서품을 받았다.

쿠니베르크 신부는 덕원 수도원이 폐쇄될 때, 처음에는 평양 감옥에, 그 다음에는 옥사덕 수용소에 수감되었다. 그곳에서 수용소의 학대로 1952년 6월 14일 운명하였다.
